Cookbooks first became popular with the first edition of The Fannie Farmer Cookbook, published in 1896 which has now become one of the most widely published cookbooks worldwide.
Recipes--Tried and True was published two years before, in 1894, and includes over 300 pages of recipes. This eBook is the first electronic edited and expanded publication featuring two short cooking stories by William Makepeace Thackeray and Edna Ferber, a historic timeline, and some of Aesop's Classic Fables translated by George Fyler Townsend.
The recipes range from easy to hard and include many tips and interesting, unique methods of cooking which have, unfortunately almost been forgotten.
